Those with veterinary skill can take two horses, mate them and produce a new colored offspring. Just follow this useful guide and you'll be producing a bountiful plethora of horses for your stables.

You will need a male horse (identified by their short mane) and a female horse (long mane). Male horses are typically found around Valhalla. Female horses can be mainly found around the other realms, usually where they would be found (desert horses in a desert, etc) but some on Valhalla as well. Generally, if you can find one gender on Valhalla, it is likely the other gender is on another realm but not always. Taming skill ranges from 45 to 70.

Compatibility

The following horses can be bred: pale (light gray), tan (light brown), brown, black, blood, desert, emerald, fire, golden phoenix, indigo, purple haze and swamp steed. Not all horses can be bred and not all are compatible with each other.

Not all bloodlines are compatible while breeding. Below is a simple guide to which horses are compatible with each other and the veterinary skill to be successful.

Tier 1: 60% veterinary skill required, 25% failure rate.

Pale Horse

Black Horse

Tan Horse

Brown Horse

Tier 2: 80% veterinary skill required, 50% failure rate.

Pale Horse

Black Horse

Golden Phoenix

Indigo Steed

Purple Haze

Swamp Steed

Tier 3: 95% veterinary skill required, 75% failure rate.

Pale Horse

Black Horse

Blood Steed

Desert Steed

Emerald Steed

Fire Steed

Breeding

To start breeding, you will need the following: a bridle (made by the tailor) and a pheromone flask (made by the tinker) and two wild horses. Do not use tamed horses as the bridle will turn one of them into a packhorse. Use the pheromone flask on the long-haired mane horse to collect her pheromones. The flask will turn white but the pheromones will only be good for 36 hours. Now you will have to get the horses within close proximity to each other. Use the bridle on each wild horse and it will begin the process of breeding.

If you are not successful, 1 of 6 things can happen:

1. The mare and foal die in birth.

2. The mare dies in birth.

3. The stud, driven mad by pheromones, attacks the mare.

4. The mare and stud die.

5. A foal the same color as the mare is born.

6. Something very very bad happens and everyone has a bad day.

Tips

The failure chance can be decreased by 15% (from 25% to 10%, for example) by using a Bag of Oat Mash made by the cook. You will need 50 carrots and 50 wheat sheaves. Keep it in your main pack when you start the breeding process.
