Act 2: The Unknown Known

From ValhallaLost

There is definitely something going on but the current clues are far and few. You will be sent on a series of missions to track down the history of Valhalla and who or what is trying to disturb its peaceful citizens. All he knows right now is the Vikings have something to do with it.

Rock has gotten information that messages are being passed to an unknown destination. They are using a unique coding system which requires fragments to be assembled before the note can be read. It is your job to seek out special Viking Runners and acquire a number of fragments to gain an idea what the note says. Use one fragmented note to combine all that are in your backpack into one piece and to read the message. You can use any fragmented note to combine them. Check the tooltip how many pieces were combined.

  • Viking Runners can be found mostly in the Newlands' far northern coastline (above Asgard beach around the mountains and Pygmies) with some scattered along the west coast of the beach. They can also be found around some of the old viking camps such as those near Rimstone and along the coastal waters south of the beach near the orc forest.
  • The drop rate for fragmented notes is 75%.
  • Even though you do not have to complete the note, you can acquire more pieces if you really want to know what the entire note says.
  • Notes only last a week.
  • Keep a note in the top of your backpack. When you use it, it will search your backpack for other fragmented notes and add them accordingly (if a note has 3 pieces already on it, it will add the 3 pieces to the note).

Part 2

More information is needed about the new threat. You will have to go find Fingers McGee at Gateway City in Lost Realms. He will require you to get a viking statuette before he will impart any of his knowledge.

  • Fingers will only talk to certain people so make sure you mention who sent you to him (Rock Bane).

Bronwyn is found at the Twin Oaks Tavern in Ilshenar. She is a historian researching all things vikings and she is looking for old viking stuff. But she has been having recent problems with grave robbers taking all the viking heirlooms that she is looking for. She wants you to go out and find her some. When you have collected enough for her, she sells two special viking deco items. Fingers is interested in the lowest cost item.

Viking Heirlooms can be collected two different ways. The first is on grave robbers which are found around graveyards, mostly in Ilshenar, but some around Valhalla and Lost Realms and also around some shrines in Ilshenar. The second is to go shift sand using a sandshifter. You can buy the sandshifter from Bronwyn.

  • The drop rate on grave robbers is 50%.
  • The find rate on sandshifters is 3% on realms other than Ilshenar and 5% on Ilshenar.
  • Sandshifters last a couple of hours before they decay. You will have to buy another one.
  • Remember to keep moving when using the sandshifter. Shifting on the same spot will give little to no results.
  • Viking Heirlooms last 7 days before they decay. Turn them in as soon as you get them.
  • You can find Viking Heirlooms at any time and hand them in for points. The two statuettes are deco and can be used as deco at your house. They are purely deco.

Part 3

Return to Fingers and give him the statuette. Fingers informs you that he doesn't know as much as Rock thought he did but he does know a person who can answer more questions. You must find Aislin Darknwald who lives at Lakeshire in Ilshenar. However, Aislin is having problems of her own and one of her dearest friends is on his deathbed. She wants you to go find a death cap mushroom that is only found at the Mushroom Cave in Ilshenar. The cave is located along the south mountains between Lakeshire and Twin Oaks.

  • The drop rate for the fungus is 15% so clearing out the caves may not give one.
  • Those little fungus guys are pretty tough so avoid being surrounded.
  • Is there something else of interest around the caves?

Part 4

After getting the mushroom, Aislin tells you that she has heard odd noises coming from within the mountain range that lies down the center of Ilshenar. She has heard rumors there is actually a large valley within the mountainous walls and the only person who can help you is Ivanhoe, the Mountain Climber. He will teach you how to climb the mountain so you can find out what mystery lies within the great valley. He can be found at the Western Gypsy Camp on Ilshenar. To get to the camp, you must travel north of Twin Oaks Tavern, through the spider forest, through the winding mountains until you get to the forest. The camp is located to the west as soon as you hit the forest.

  • Ivanhoe is the only way into Central Ilshenar. When you are not on the Unforgiven quest, you can use the mountain climbing equipment to gain access as there are several hunting spots around there. After you have completed this part of the Unforgiven, you can access the Central Valley at any time. If you start the quest again, you will have to wait until you are at this part before you can go into the valley.
  • You can recall or gate into and out of Central Ilshenar.
  • You must use the mountain climbing equipment to continue the quest. If you mark within the Valley for use at a later date, you will not activate the quest when you recall or gate into the valley.
  • There are a few healers around Central Ilshenar, usually along the mountains.
  • There are two exit caves from Central Ilshenar back to West and East Ilshenar. These are one-way caves only.

Once you have entered the Valley, there will be a scripted event that takes place. Sit back and enjoy the show!
